Roberta Joan (John) Meese, 86, of Ord passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021, at Arbor Care Center in Ord, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021; at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father Mark Maresh will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the Church. Memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association or Shriners Hospital for Children. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
For the health and safety of others social distancing and face masks are required for those attending the funeral.
Roberta Joan was born October 8, 1934, to Joseph and Ida Mae (Kingston) John on the family farm in the Vinton Township of Valley County, Nebraska. She attended Brace District #17 Country School and graduated from Ord High School in 1952.
On April 26, 1954, Roberta was united in marriage to Thaddeus Dean Meese at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Roberta and Thad had two children, Clinton James and Cathleen Ann.
Roberta was a hard working farm wife; tending chickens and ducks, gardening, canning and helping Thad with the farm work. She was the bookkeeper and secretary for various businesses in Ord. To make a little extra money for the family, Roberta sold milk, cream and eggs to many people in the area. When their son, Clint was born with Cystic Fibrosis, Roberta devoted herself to his needs and care until his passing in 1992.
In their retirement, Roberta and Thad enjoyed traveling to various destinations across the country and to Nebraska Cornhusker football games in Lincoln, including several bowl games.
Roberta is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cathleen and Allen Woitalewicz of Ord; two granddaughters, Sarah Trotter and husband, Derek Trotter and Melissa Woitalewicz all of Omaha; great-grandsons, Thaddeus, Noah and Jacob Trotter; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Wilma John of Ord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thad; and her son, Clint.
