Memorial Services for Marguerite Jean Tjessem, age 94, of Burwell, and formerly of O’Neill will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Assembly of God Church in O’Neill. Burial will follow in the O’Neill Cemetery. Rev. Mike Durre will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the service time Saturday at the church. Marguerite passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Valley County Hospital in Ord, Nebraska. Memorials can be directed to the family for future designation. Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill is in charge of arrangements.
Marguerite Jean Clark was born September 23, 1925 in Inman, Nebraska to Eugene and Ada (Burger) Clark. She graduated from Inman High School in 1942. She went on to St. Vincent’s College; known today as Marian Health Center, in Sioux City, IA to attend Nursing School.
She met Roy Tjessem, who was stationed in Sioux City during WWII. They were married on March 26, 1946 in Inman, Nebraska. After the wedding, they settled in Chicago and started their family. They had three girls; Sandy, Nancy, and Carol. Marguerite kept busy in the home babysitting and raising her girls.
In 1962, they moved to Glendale Heights, IL where Marguerite worked in the Pediatric Unit at Central DuPage Hospital. In 1974, the family returned to Inman where Marguerite worked at Sunrise Flower and Gift. The couple moved to O’Neill, NE in 1978. Marguerite retired in the mid 1990’s.
Marguerite enjoyed reading, collecting angels, knitting, needlework, crocheting, and gardening. Above all things, she loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Inman Methodist Church.
Marguerite is survived by her children; Sandy Tjessem of O’Neill, Nancy (Paul) Kramer of Sycamore, IL, Carol (Kenny) Kamphaus of Burwell, NE; eight grandchildren, Nancy (Ron) Daniel, Mark (Laryssa) Kramer, Andy Kramer, Sarah (Tommy) Dainty, John Michael (Rachel) Kramer, Kaci Kamphaus, Joseph (Jessica) Kamphaus, John (McKenzie Shoaf) Kamphaus; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Deloras Clark of O’Neill, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy in 2003; brothers, Howard (Joyce) Clark and Tom (Mary) Clark.
