Lincoln, Neb. — Nebraska women’s gymnastics announced its 2020 schedule on Friday, Oct. 25. The slate features five home events, but will not include a Masters Classic for the first time since the 2008 season.
Capping off the 2019 season with two individual performances by Sienna Crouse and senior Taylor Houchin at NCAA Nationals the Huskers will begin their 2020 season with a trip to Utah to take on BYU on Jan. 6, followed by a meet against Southern Utah on Jan. 9.
On Jan. 16 the Big Red will begin home competition taking on the Nittany Lions at the Bob Devaney Center before heading to East Lansing, Mich., on Jan. 26 to compete against Michigan State.
The team will then return home for two meets to take on defending Big Ten Champions Michigan on Jan. 30 followed by a matchup with Maryland on Feb. 8.
Nebraska hits the road again to take on Minnesota on Feb. 16 before preparing for the Big Five Elevate the Stage meet in Toledo, Ohio on Feb. 21, which will determine seeding for the Big Ten Championships. The competition field includes Iowa, Ohio State, Illinois and Rutgers.
In March, Nebraska will finish up the regular season with two home meets, one against Missouri on March 7 and then on March 14 NU matches up against Denver who finished fourth in the NCAA National Championships.
The postseason starts on March 21 with the Big Ten Championships, hosted by Ohio State. NCAA Regional competition is set for April 4 at four campus sites, including Oklahoma, Denver, Penn State and UCLA.
The new NCAA Championships format introduced last season, now takes the top two team from each regional. There will be two semifinal competitions at the NCAA Championships with four teams advancing to the “Four on the Floor”. The NCAA Championships take place April 17-18 in Fort Worth, Texas.
