Oxford, Ohio (July 9, 2019) – Breweries from Russia to Rhode Island sent in more than 7,000 beers representing over 130 different styles for the 2019 U.S. Open Beer Championship. The competition is the only one to include beers from professional breweries and award-winning home-brewers, with judges from England, Canada and the United States.
Scratchtown Brewing Company of Ord won two medals this year, including:
Silver for Black Eye Imperial Porter, the 5th straight year it has medaled in the US Open (2015 gold, 2016 silver, 2017 gold, 2018 gold). Also medaling was Raven Twins DIPA, winning bronze in the American Style Black Ale category. Originally a collaboration with The Happy Raven Craft Beer Bar of Lincoln, this is the 2nd medal for this beer this year (winning Bronze in the Best of Craft Beer Awards).
Scratchtown has medaled now ten times in the past five years at two of the largest craft beer competitions in the United States.
