Sharon Kay (Smith) Chilewski, 73, of Burwell went to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Mrs. Chilewski was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in Burwell. Pastor Dennis Davenport will officiate. Private Inurnment will be at a later date at Cottonwood Cemetery at Burwell. Memorials are suggested to the Family.
Sharon Kay was born March 23, 1946, at Burwell, Nebraska to James Ray and Lillian Mae (Wood) Smith. She graduated from Burwell High School in 1965.
Sharon was united in marriage to George Chilewski on December 18, 1965, at Burwell, Nebraska. To this union two children were born, Jeffrey and Karie.
After living in Comstock for many years; helping her mother-in-law in the cafe’ and helping her father-in-law get ready for numerous thrashing machine shows, the couple moved to Broken Bow. While there Sharon worked at the Pizza Hut and Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in the dietary department.
At the young age of 41, Sharon suffered at stoke. Having to learn how to walk and talk again, she did not let any of it hold her back from doing the things she loved. In 1990, the family moved to Burwell to be closer to family. Sharon could be found walking around town and visiting with everyone she met on the street, she never knew a stranger.
On March 1, 2011, George passed away. Sharon resided in her home until 2017, when she moved to Parkview Plaza where she made more friends and was named Tenant of the Season which she was very proud of. In December of 2018, due to declining health Sharon made her home at the Community Memorial Health Center. She enjoyed all of the activities there.
Sharon loved to watch Westerns on T.V., listen to music, and play BINGO. She was an avid fan of John Wayne and enjoyed her grandkids and their many activities.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Chilewski of Burwell; a daughter and son-in-law, Karie and Doug Dawe of Burwell; grandchildren, James Chilewski and special friend, Tia of Gothenburg, Jadyn Dawe and wife, Jori and their daughter, Jaylynn of Hastings, Kylr Dawe and Zakia Dawe both of Burwell; siblings, Judy and Dave Warner of Ord, Bill and Laurie Smith of O’Neill, Terry and Marcie Smith of Burwell, and Tammy and Terry Redden of Kearney; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Walker of Kearney.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; two brothers, Jim “Butch” and Larry Smith; a sister, Patricia; brothers-in-law, Chuck Chilewski and Robert Walker; and a nephew, Bobby Walker.
