Marilyn Louise Burnham, 87, of Burwell, Nebraska died January 21, 2019 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burwell. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery. Pastor Jon Franson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Burwell Ambulance.
Marilyn was born July 22, 1931 in Burwell to Albert and Clara (Garska) Bolli. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church Missouri synod in Burwell. She graduated from Burwell High School in 1949.
Marilyn married Richard Burnham on April 29, 1951. To this union three children were born. Throughout their marriage she played roles in the farming operation raising crops, cattle and hogs. Marilyn and Rich started custom feeding cattle in 1985. In 1992 they formed M & R Cattle Company with their son, Mike. Marilyn also served as the Garfield County Treasurer from 1987 to 1997.
Marilyn was a devout member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Dorcas Society, church treasurer and blessed the congregation with her musical talents by playing the organ for many years. Marilyn was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary, VFW and the Buzzin Duzzin Club. She loved the farm and ranch life; especially, the cattle feeding business.
Richard died October 24, 2015.
Marilyn is survived by two children, Cindy Kenton of North Platte, Nebraska and Mike Burnham of Burwell, Nebraska and a daughter-in-law, Pat Burnham of Burwell, Nebraska. Eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. A brother, Buck and Lorajane Bolli of Wood River, Nebraska.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, a son Rob Burnham and a great-granddaughter, Brooke Burnham.
