Marcus Joseph Gannon, 72, of Greeley passed away unexpectedly at his home in Greeley on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Greeley Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Jim Heithoff will officiate. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Greeley. Military Honors will be presented by the Charles E. Martin American Legion Post #186 of Greeley. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Church. Memorials are suggested to the Charles E. Martin American Legion Post #186 or the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. T. J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Marcus Joseph was born November 6, 1946, at Greeley, Nebraska to Joseph Frances and Gertrude Ellen (Gilroy) Gannon. He grew up in Greeley where he received his education at Sacred Heart Catholic School graduating in 1965.
From 1966-1968, Mark served in the United States Army. He received a Bronze Star for his heroic service during the Vietnam War.
Mark lived most of his adult life in Omaha before returning to Greeley to retire.
Mark enjoyed current events, golf, pool, gin rummy, movies, music and Nebraska Football. He was proud of his Irish Heritage and loved his family. Mark’s many friends were a very significant part of his life and brought him great joy and happiness.
He was a member of the Charles E. Martin American Legion Post #186.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, D’Lynn and Daniel Buck, and Dara and Allen Green; six grandchildren, Joseph, Samuel, William and Anna Buck, Gillian and Gibson Green; a brother, Richard Gannon; a sister, Mary Jane Nealon; and two great aunts, Lorraine (Boog) Gilroy and Gwen Hall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and many dear friends.
