Eugene L. Bruha, 57, of Burwell passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the Ord First United Methodist Church. Pastor Stefanie Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Family’s Choice. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Eugene Lumir was born November 5, 1961, at Ord, Nebraska to Lumir and Darlene (Paider) Bruha. He was raised on the family farm west of Elyria and attended Eureka District #32 Rural School and graduated from Ord High School in 1980.
Eugene farmed on the family farm west of Elyria. He was united in marriage to Monica Poland and they were blessed with three children. Eugene and Janet (Smolik) Chalupa have enjoyed each other’s company for the last six years.
Eugene was active in FFA and Young Farmers. In his youth, many Sundays were spent playing softball with family and neighbors. He also enjoyed playing volleyball, coyote hunting and going to auctions. His favorite pastime was spending time with family, especially his grandkids and his dogs. Eugene was always there to help out his family or a friend.
Survivors include his parents, Lumir and Darlene Bruha of Elyria; two daughters and a son-in-law, Brittney Bruha and significant other, Lance Foltz both of Humphrey, and Sarah and Jondalar Frye of Sargent; a son, Jesse Bruha of Burwell; his significant other, Janet Chapula of Burwell; Janet’s children, Andrew Chalupa of Omaha and Ashley and Christopher Talkington of Chadron; six grandchildren, Trinity Bruha, Izaiah Frye, Weston Foltz and Tristan, Owen and Samuel Talkington; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Elwin Graves of Burwell, Kathy and Dan Timmons of Scotia, and Bethene and Allen Merithew of Chapman; a special friend, Bandy Miller of Ord; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
