Donald Paul Jeffres, 83, of Burwell, Nebraska died December 28, 2018 at his home.
There will be a celebration of life visitation at the Burwell Senior Center on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 2 – 4 p.m. Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell is assisting the family.
Don was born July 16, 1935 at Greeley, Nebraska to Floyd and Wilhelmena (Beck) Jeffres.
Don enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 19, 1954 and was honorably discharge on October 7, 1957.
Don married Rosie Hulinsky on August 1, 1958 in Grand Island, Nebraska. They lived in Burwell and north of Burwell.
Don was the superintendent at the Rodeo Telephone Company from 1958 to 1984. Don and Rose owned the Northside Bar and Grill for eight years. They also owned Jeffres Wester Wear. Don boxed in the Golden Gloves. He loved motorcycles and participated in hill climbs. He also enjoyed raising horses. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Burwell Volunteer Fire Department.
Don is survived by his wife, Rose Jeffres of Burwell, Nebraska. Three children, Nick Jeffres and Rhonda Maxon of Burwell, Lonn Jeffres and Renee Urbina of Burwell and Shelley and Randy Mayfield of Grand Island. A daughter-in-law, Patty Jeffres of Burwell. Eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Steve Jeffres, a brother, DeLysle Jeffres and four sisters, Darlene Brinkley, Corine Kesterson, Caroljean Samway and Gail Wilson.
