Yvonne Gayle “Vonnie” Jurgensen, 80, of Burwell, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly November 16, 2018 at the Valley County Health Systems Hospital in Ord, Nebraska.
A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Burwell. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 – 7 p.m. at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Inurnment will be in Banner Cemetery at Burwell. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Scottish Rite of Omaha.
Vonnie was born August 29, 1938 in Burwell, Nebraska to James “Bud” and Louise (Davis) Miller.
Vonnie graduated from Burwell High School in 1956. On August 11, 1957 Vonnie married Ken Jurgensen in Burwell. They resided in the same house their entire married life of 61 years, with many cherished memories.
Vonnie was a cook at the high school in Burwell for twenty-seven years. After retirement, she kept busy baking pies for the Senior Center every week, bowling on Tuesday morning coffee league, and taking care of her second set of children, her pets. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Legion Auxiliary.
Vonnie is survived by her husband Ken Jurgensen of Burwell. Three children, Mike and Teresa Jurgensen of Columbus, Nebraska, Shelli Spencer of Burwell, Nebraska and Brad and Jill Jurgensen of Lincoln, Nebraska. Eight grandchildren and Six great-grandchildren. Four sisters, Tootie and Jack Ruppel of Taylor, Nebraska, Shirley and Orrin Helgeland of Burwell, Nebraska, Dena and Rick Clouse of Rifle, Colorado and Pam and Bub Chaffin of Burwell, Nebraska and two sister-in-law’s, Ruth Miller of Burwell, Nebraska and Bonnie Miller of Burwell, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews.
Vonnie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gary Miller and Wilbur Miller.
