On Monday, May 1st, 2017, from 9 AM to 2 PM, Paulie Calafiore will be at Ord High School for a special day of “Creating a Culture of Courage, Compassion and Contribution” for grades 6-12. Calafiore is the founder of The Rise Up, a movement to affect change in the world through positive action.
The day will kick off at 9 am with a rally and Q&A with the Students led by Paulie.
Then from 10-11:30 the students will participate in small groups:
Championing one another, identifying their passions
Courageously sharing their stressors and the culture that is currently keeping them from living and sharing their passions.
Rising up, creating strategies and ways they will take ownership of, contributing to the culture they want for themselves, their school and community in order to live extraordinary lives
The day concludes from 1-2 with presentations from the students, and a final Message and Challenge from Paulie on how they will Rise Up.
Paulie Calafiore, a houseguest on season 18 of CBS Big Brother, is determined to leverage his national exposure by using his platform to spread messages of motivation and positivity. In doing so, Calafiore has partnered in launching The Rise Up, an organization dedicated to bringing awareness to bullying, sexual violence, and domestic violence, via creative fundraising campaigns, sparking activism with calls to action, and direct connections at speaking engagements.
The Rise Ups current campaign is in support of RAINN, the nations largest anti-sexual violence organization. Launched in the beginning of March — to coincide with International Womens Day on March 8 — the campaign will run through April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. Although donations to support RAINN are being accepted at theriseup.org, this isnt just a fundraiser – its a movement. Those involved have not only been donating, but also supporting survivors, and spreading the word on social media. The campaign to benefit RAINN is the second one established by The Rise Up. The first campaign supported a cause that is increasingly important the fight against cyberbullying. Supporters of that campaign bolstered the fight against cyberbullying by: donating nearly $11,000 for Cybersmile Foundation; becoming cybersmilers and offering support to victims of online bullying; and sharing their stories to inspire others to rise up and create change.
The Rise Up harnesses the power of social media to bring awareness to causes and spread its message of positivity and action. The Rise Up can be found on Twitter and Instagram at @the_riseup.
