Two Rivers caboose availability expanded

LINCOLN, Neb. The availability of lodging in the Union Pacific cabooses at Two Rivers State Recreation Area has been expanded, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

Beginning this year, guests may stay in the cabooses from May 1 through Sept. 30. In the past, the cabooses were available Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

The park has 10 colorful cabooses, donated by the Union Pacific Railroad, that have been restored and sit on their own tracks. They are air-conditioned and sleep six.

There is no shortage of activities for Two Rivers visitors. The park has excellent fishing in its many sandpits, including the popular trout lake. Camping, biking (rentals available), swimming, and picnicking are among the other activities.
