ORD — Several local races this primary election were contested. These results are unofficial, but have been called.
In Valley County, the Ord 1% sales tax for economic development passes with 71% of the vote, while the 1% sales-and-use tax for a fifteen year period also passed with nearly 70% of the vote. This 15-year period begins in January 2017.
Elsewhere in Ord, the City Council sear for Ward 2 went to David Kusek with 54.75%, Tom Dworak got 34.84% and Pedro Camacho 9.95%. There was one write-in.
Lastly for Valley County, Jane John wins the Republican nomination for the County Supervisor in District Two. She collected 71.84% of the vote, while Helmut Gerber finished with 27.18%.
In Greeley County, the Democratic nominee for District Three Commissioner goes to Joe Leslie with 62.64% of the vote. Leo Reilly ended with 37.36%.
Finally in Howard County, a close race for County Commissioner in District Two goes to Rance Lierman over Gary Rasmussen. The final tally had 161 votes fro Lierman and 155 for Rasmussen.
