ORD — Three people will go to fill a seat on the Ord City Council in Ward 2 during the May 10th primary election.
Pedro Camacho, Tom Dworak and Dave Kusek are vying for the spot representing the area that covers the northwest part of the city.
Ward 2 runs from L Street to the northern border of the city and from the western limits to 17th Street.
The candidates have said they want to run to take part in local government and, for Kusek, on issue is the Ord pool. “We do need to replace the swimming pool, but I’d rather see them spend a little more money and do it right,” he says,
“Just like the equipment that’s in it, I would hope we are going to put something in that would be safer for everybody and something that is going to last,” Kusek adds.
Other candidates turn to business and tourism. Camacho likes how well Ord does with visitors during the summer and would like to expand that into the winter. “I know it effects quite a few of the businesses in town and that’s kind of one of the things I would like to do,” he says.
“I would like to see a bigger flow of people, maybe putting on really big events to kind of drive people into town and get them buying and selling their stuff here,” Camacho explains.
Election day in Valley County and across the rest of Nebraka is set for May 10th with voting presincts open from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
