ORD — Among the decisions folks have to make during Tuesday’s primary is for the republican nominee for Valley County Supervisor in Precinct 2.
This area covers part of northwest Ord from the cemetery south to L Street and 17th Street west to Bussell Park.
Jane John and Helmut Gerber are the republican candidates and both would like to see tourism boosted in the area.
“Ord is a small community, but it’s also a very beautiful town,” says Gerber. “Valley County is one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen in the United States.”
“You know, the people are good and I’d just like to see us attract a little more tourists and attract more manufacturing jobs in the community. Something that is going to actually provide a sustainable income,” he adds.
Meanwhile, John would like to see more cohesiveness between Ord, Arcadia, North Loup and Elyria. “I’d like to see more of the four towns involved in each other as far as tourism and on working together to bring more people to our area,” she explains.
Whichever candidate should make it through the primary would head to the general election in November. Allen Cetak is the incumbent for the seat. He is unopposed on the democratic side of the ticket.
