ORD — Kindergarteners at St. Mary’s teamed up with the Ord WFLA to make may baskets and deliver them to Grandview Independent and Assisted Living residents.
The event is part of Join Hands Day. That’s intended to encourage folks of all ages to connect with one another in a community.
“It’s a fun thing to do, the kids love it,” says St. Mary’s Kindergarten Teacher Kathleen Holm. “We did it last year and when we they walked in this year, the kids were like ‘yes!'”.
“When you bring may baskets and we knock on the door most of [the residents] are like ‘come in, come in’,” she adds. “So, I think it’s just the visiting.”
The may baskets were first made in the classroom before the students spent the rest of the day with the residents.
